Before we get start I must give you the official disclaimer to cover myself and inform you fully of everything.
1) I don’t care if it is me, the media, a pastor, your best friend, a teacher, or your mama, ALWAYS research and check out what is being said for yourself. I encourage you not to take what I or anyone says at face value. I’m a big one for finding out things first hand and evaluating for yourself the best decision for you. All that to say, check out what I offer regarding tips, check it out and research it for yourself and make the best decision for yourself using wise counsel & your doctor’s advise where needed.
2) Please always consult your physician before changing or stopping any counsel they are giving you. Anything that I have done physically or with my doctors have worked for me and may not work for you. Again, I am only suggesting tips that have worked for me. I am not suggesting in anyway, shape or form to do these tips in lieu of whatever advice your doctors are telling you. Use these tips at your own risk knowing in my case they have worked.
3) Finally, I am not getting paid, reimbursed, doing any favors, getting any kickbacks or anything like that for mentioning any of the products in my tips. This offering of tips is NOT about making money, getting ahead, taking advantage, getting over, or getting something out of people. My sole purpose in doing this offering is to help and encourage people in these times when money is tight knowing that if we don’t come together, we shall surely fall apart. I have been blessed to experience alot through my life, modeling career, having had to survive by being resourceful, being a cheapskate and being blessed to overcome some things people said were impossible, advanced RA, Fibromyalgia, Lichen Planus (where I had to shave my head) and more. There will only be one possible case of a product that I am currently trying that I am so blown away by that I might be endorsing…BUT I PROMISE I WILL LET YOU KNOW IF AND WHEN THAT HAPPENS A HEAD OF TIME.
Hey there, this is Charlotte with your tip for the day.
HAIR LOSS
What a drag right? For some men, being bald is super sexy. There is nothing like a beautiful bald head….I love them. However on a woman or man who does not want that look or thinks swirling around those last five long strands of hair will cover that whole head of scalp….something way more is needed. Something like..hum..well..hair.
Looking back, I have wonderful memories of Saturday night baths and turns sitting between my mother’s legs to get my hair pressed (hot combed that is). For those of you not in the know that was the time in black households (before or instead of chemical perm kits that were used to straighten hair) where girls would get their natural hair straightened with an iron comb that had a handle that was placed on the fire. Once the comb was hot it was combed through the girl’s hair to straighten it out. It worked wonderfully. The only problems were 1) the child was generally frightened that the mother would burn her with the iron so she would be shaking, which of course would lead her to getting burned with the iron and 2) the fear of being burned by the iron would generally cause the child to sweat which would place moisture in the hair which would curl the hair back up in need of restraightening. Oh boy! What a process.
I remember constantly telling my mother that she burned me only to be told that she didn’t. Of course, as scabs would form from the burns during church the next day, I would show her proof of her torture as she would reply, “Oh, I guess I did!” Oh, those were the days. Great memories that now bring a big smile to my face…you just had to be there. Okay, let me get back to the point.
We were discussing hair loss. Which by the way…my hair was the most healthy, longest and the strongest during the time of my mother’s care. Once I started taking it over and putting in perms, my hair went a different route. Just another point of interest for another time.
To the point…I have gone through many different styles, lengths, perms, naturals, weaves, wigs, you name it, I’ve done it. In my modeling and jazz singing days, I was the queen of hair down my back one day and then hair only to my shoulders the next.
In 2004, I started having some severe itching and redness problems with my scalp. My hair started falling out. It would grow back quickly then fall out just as fast. I went to the dermatologist and was diagnosed with something called lichen planus. He said there was no cure, only treatments of steroids shots to my scalp. Over the next few months my hair started falling out in patches where you could literally see my scalp over 40% of my head. My rhematologist didn’t know if my crazy immune system was yet again fighting me or what was happening. Of course, I was under a great deal of stress. (Which I have found is a huge killer and disease causer of folks) I asked my friend who is a beautician to come to my house to shave my head bald and put on a wig for the next year.
Okay, jump forward a few years. My hair has grown back (actually in better condition than before) Under different medication with the Rheumatoid Arthritis going into remission (that will be in a different post), in a different place in my life with way less stress (again a different post), however there are a few areas where the hair was thinner than the other areas. Also as I was getting older, I was noticing my eyebrows and eyelashes were thinning. What’s up?
Here is where the the tip of the day FINALLY comes in. I don’t know where this company came from and have no connection to them but for me, this product so worked. FIRST check them out for yourself. The product is called HairSil Accelerator Treatment with Bioactive Peptide TA-5 (multi action formula) 45 applications. I got mine from Walgreens for about 20 bucks. You will be amazed. The only down side that I hade with this product is that since I perm my hair & it grew so fast, it forced me to have to use a flat iron just to keep the new growth straight. I noticed a difference overnight.
The product is alittle thick so I watered mine down alittle. Because I have such dry hair, I put a little liquid on my thin (used to be thin) areas then I sprayed alittle water from a spray bottle, used a little organix coconut milk (get it at walmart) and finally use my regular mixture of (olive oil/vitamin e/mineral oil, water & aloe oil mixed in a spray bottle). I massage my hair then brush it forward with a wide toothed brush. Brush it backward, then wrap my hair or set it until I’m ready to go. Yeah, it sounds like a lot, but my skin & hair absorb moisture (which is better than being oily for skin problems) and if i don’t keep them moisturized (not oily but moisturized) my hair will dry and thin out.
*Remember the opposite of dry is moisture NOT oily. A big help is using a spray bottle with water before using a lite serum or oil if your have black hair. If your hair doesn’t move when your head moves….you’re hair dressing is too heavy.
Do this next part at your own risk. Since it was growing my hair out so quickly, I wondered about my eyebrows. Same thing no different. I use a q-tip and apply the liquid to the ends of my eye brows after I was my face. I also apply it carefully with a q-tip to my lower eye-lashes making sure not to get any inside my eye. I do the same on the top of my eye with it closed. Again, do this at your own risk. This is just some I do.
Please give me feedback with how you are doing with the tips, ask questions, or let me know how I’m doing. I’m writing this tips based on what I would want to know so let me know your thoughts.
Take care
Charlotte

Charlotte, what do you think about using such a product on natural hair. I couldn’t tell if you started using this after you relaxed your hair. I have recently, cut all the relaxer out of my hair and I am growing my natural hair. I’m using products that hold in the moisture made from shea butter.
Hey there Lori,
I would certainly use it on natural hair. I would also suggest washing your hair about every four days. I know our hair tends to dry out if we wash it too much. But every three to four days is perfect expecially if you are keeping it moisturized.
Let me know how it works for you.
Charlotte
I think you are just beautiful Charlotte, and now I know why!
However, i truly think it just comes naturally for you because of your beautiful heart and spirit, but I will try some of this on my hair and let you know. My problem is that my hair is so straight naturally that it is hard to curl. Any experiences in that area?
Thanks.
Dolores
Thanks much Dolores.
