A Purpose In The Pain – Feeling like Clay
Often, we believe we have to work hard, do something or worry about finding where we need to fit. Remember, it’s God’s purpose that we were created for not ours. It is God’s responsibility to place us in situations, test us, allow certain things to happen, etc. in order for us to meet his purpose.
It is exactly like a potter creating a beautiful clay vase. The clay’s responsibility is one thing…to allow itself to be molded into whatever creation the potter desires. That’s it. It is totally up to the potter to know how much fire is needed, how much the clay can handle, when the clay needs to be molded, when it is ready for the next process and what imperfections need to be corrected before the next step. The potter knows exactly when the clay is perfect for his use and knows exactly how it will be used. The result is on the potter and no matter how much the clay wants to control the process or try to figure out it’s use, it can’t nor should it. The problem is not that we have imperfections, habits, issues, etc. The problem is believing that those issues should not be there and that we, not the potter have control over the process and finished product.
Be encouraged, it’s a journey not a destination.
