ENCOURAGEMENT FOR TODAY- Never Give Up on Your Dream
I remember hearing a story about a woman from Nebraska who was raised from age six, for the most part, in a small trailer by a lake. Outcast from her peers and poor, she often said the only time she felt accepted was when she was reading a book or play-acting. When she was thirteen, her parents divorced. Despite her desperate poverty, being an outcast and a child of divorce, she had a dream. She had a dream that would call for great sacrifice, loss and points of living out of a car. Still, despite the label as homeless, poor, not good enough, etc. she refused to allow her past and shortcomings to be a dream stealer. She was an example of someone who knew the task was difficult but also believed the dream was possible.
The woman from Nebraska who refused to allow her past, poverty, rejection, and home life to deter her from her dream was Hillary Swank. In 1999, she won her first Oscar for Boys Do not Cry, and then captured a second one in 2004 for Million Dollar Baby. After winning her second Oscar, she said, “I do not know what I did in this life to deserve this. I am just a girl from a trailer park who had a dream.”
You can do this!
