ENCOURAGEMENT FOR TODAY- Some Truth to Know About Fear #3
Did you have any experiences today that made you stop and say, “I’m afraid of that situation”?
First, I wanted to review our first two truths. 1) Fear is simply an emotion that will continue to be a part of us. It is not meant to be eliminated but conquered through courage. 2) We are not the only ones who have feelings of fear or feel alone. Everyone does but shows it in different ways.
I have written several posts and did a series on Fear, “Facing Your Fears” which you can find through this blog so I won’t go into a lot of detail about fear. However, I want to bring up a point about fear that is important to know. I am not referring to the definition of fear which means impending danger here. Generally when we fear, it is about the anticipation of something bad happening in the future. We have fears about something we believe might take place yet have no proof of the reality of it happening. False Evidence Appearing Real
Truth #3: We can take power over our fears by slowly (and safely) moving on the area of our fear with wisdom or walking in similar environments. NOTE: In some cases deep and emotional fears (abuse, trauma, etc.) will need the assistance of professional help and should not be taken lightly. In many situations, fears can be managed by choosing day by day to take one step to go a different way to work, trying something new, saying hi to someone, going outside a comfort zone, etc.
The key is not to move without fear. The key is to move forward in courage in spite of our fears. You can do this!
