ENCOURAGEMENT FOR TODAY- "Twelve Years A Slave"
I went to see the movie, “Twelve years A Slave” (written by Solomon Northup in 1853- don’t give up writers!) yesterday. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve_Years_a_Slave Incredible movie. Hard to watch in some areas especially because Solomon’s story is true. However, if you want to see a film about experiencing a life of joy to incredible heartbreak and overwhelming obstacles, then hope, this picture is a must see. It tells of the great depravity of us all as well as the ability to love, pursue vision when everything seems hopeless, grow in character when everything around you says to give up, and to learn to trust again after being hurt, betrayed, lied to and full of fear. I was never a slave on a plantation, but I could make so many comparisons in my thinking, experiences, things that God has and is allowing in my life, and great encouragements to take away. Again, if you need to be encouraged to keep going and hope for greater, I beg you to see this movie. The theater was packed with all races, which I was so happy to see.
