I have found three types of character of people in my life. There are those who blame others for the negative situations in their lives and believe if others would change or do what the person wanted, life would be better, safe, controllable and positive. Second, there are those who blame themselves for everything negative in their lives regardless of responsibility. For them, the sacrifice of believing they are the “only ones” trying but once again fail to measure up is a continual motto. Finally, there are those who hold a type of balance most of the time, allowing for pity parties and anger toward others at times, but overall hold to the believe that everything has a purpose and plan and everything, especially pain, is an opportunity not an obstacle.
Believe me, I have been on the side of blaming others for the failure of my life to work the way I desired as well as believing that I had the power and control to be able to alter the world and others around me and see myself as the continual problem and blame of why my life was not working the way I believed it should.
Fortunately, I now find myself older, wiser (I hope) and more mature as a person, woman, counselor, Christian, friend and leader and my understanding of negative situations and struggles in regard to our development overall has greatly changed.
Each day and each situation that happens, especially those that are painful, uncomfortable and seem negative, are opportunities for us to say, “Man, I hate going through this and want it to end. However, I know the Lord is allowing something in my life for a plan and purpose that I am just not getting right now. Either I am going to trust what I feel, see and believe through my filter of hurt in my finite mind or I’m going to trust that the Lord is in control and allowing a plan and purpose for my good and future and He knows my hurt, struggle, tears and is watching me closely.” True trust is always based on the source not the situation.
So today, in the negative and painful situations of your life, what are you trusting?
Take care,
Charlotte
