ENCOURAGEMENT FOR TODAY-How do you view God?
So often we view God, the Father like we do our earthly fathers. In my case, I viewed God like my mother, who was head of the house. I believed I had to earn his love, be perfect, and do everything right. I thought he would, like my mother, reject and hurt me if I made mistakes or didn’t please her. All that led to was my fear and hating her because of how I viewed myself. In the same way, we do the same to God. Not only do we view him like our parents, but when He doesn’t do/perform like we want Him to, instead of being sad, we believe He is bad. I get it. Fortunately, like getting to know the best, safest Friend who puts your needs (didn’t say wants) first, I learned and grew to love and enjoy a Father who is nothing like my parents. He gave me my parents, not to rely on them for my identity, but to show me they are imperfect, yet He is who I need to rely on for my life. You can do this.
