TIPS FOR HOW TO LOSS WEIGHT IN A HEALTHY WAY
1) I don’t care if it is me, the media, a pastor, your best friend, a teacher, or your mama, ALWAYS research and check out what is being said for yourself. I encourage you not to take what I or anyone says at face value. I’m a big one for finding out things first hand and evaluating for yourself the best decision for you. All that to say, check out what I offer regarding tips, check it out and research it for yourself and make the best decision for yourself using wise counsel & your doctor’s advice where needed.
2) Please always consult your physician before changing or stopping any counsel they are giving you. Anything that I have done physically or with my doctors have worked for me and may not work for you. Again, I am only suggesting tips that have worked for me. I am not suggesting in any way, shape or form to do these tips in lieu of whatever advice your doctors are telling you. Use these tips at your own risk knowing in my case they have worked.
3) Finally, I am not getting paid, reimbursed, doing any favors, getting any kickbacks or anything like that for mentioning any of the products in my tips. This offering of tips is NOT about making money, getting ahead, taking advantage, getting over, or getting something out of people. My sole purpose in doing this offering is to help and encourage people in these times when money is tight knowing that if we don’t come together, we shall surely fall apart. I have been blessed to experience alot through my life, modeling career, having had to survive by being resourceful, being a cheapskate and being blessed to overcome some things people said were impossible, advanced RA, Fibromyalgia, Lichen Planus (where I had to shave my head) and more. There will only be one possible case of a product that I am currently trying that I am so blown away by that I might be endorsing…BUT I PROMISE I WILL LET YOU KNOW IF AND WHEN THAT HAPPENS A HEAD OF TIME.
Hey there, this is Charlotte with your tip for the day. (FORWARNING, THIS IS A LONG ONE)
Before we get started, let me remind you of the caution I gave at the beginning of this post regarding the tips. Regardless if it’s me, the media, a pastor, or your mama, always check and research the information for yourself. Check the Better Business Bureau, internet searches, media searches, negative information, anything and everything you can then based on that information, make an educated decision which is best for you and go with it.
Please make sure that if you have any health conditions such as diabetes, heart problems, etc. that you check with your doctor. They know your care and your needs the best. Work these tips with their knowledge.
This blog post is not just about tips on losing weight but how to lose weight in healthy ways that will be long-lasting. Unfortunately there are tons of scams and unhealthy ways out there for people looking for quick results without changing their bad eating habits. I promise, while it is possible to have short term results with quickie “take a pill” while eating poorly and not moving, it won’t be long-lasting or healthy.
It is no secret that I’m 50 years old. In the past, especially during my years as an international runway model I did some pretty unhealthy things, including having an eating disorder, to stay in modeling size. Through these tips I have stayed within my appropriate weight and am now back in my modeling size 8 (that was standard back in the day. Today’s standard is size 2 & 0 which is crazy) within the past month due to an amazing product in particular that I will mention later.
Okay, here we go with the first tip.
Tip #1 to losing weight: Drink water like your life depended on it. Keep in mind our kidneys, blood, organs, brain, heart, everything relies upon the water in our bodies. Water helps our joints, reduces inflammation, stimulates our immune system, suppresses our appetites, reduces sodium, eliminates waste, relieves water retention, reduces fat deposits, helps to treat allergies, asthma, depression, high blood pressure, diabetes, headaches, chronic fatigue syndrome, colitis, alcohol dependency, lower back pain, neck pain, and on and on. Water is a wonderful thing.
I bought a 32 ounce plastic drinking thermos. During the day I keep ice in it and keep it filled with bottled water. Sometimes I will switch it out and fill it with green tea or bottled water and a generic crystal light lemonade packet or a squirt of lemon juice. Keep in mind lemon juice is a great addition for weight lose. Not only does it curb your appetite but it acts as a diuretic, provides vitamin c, helps metabolism and digestion, and improves skin elasticity. Try to drink at least 10 eight ounce bottles or the equivalent daily. I play a game with the goal of drinking( 5) 32 ounce thermos’ daily. When I reach the goal, I reward myself with a movie or extra hour of sleep or something like that. Games, rewards & goals might make losing weight easier for you if you are competitive or like challenges like me.
Again, tip #1 is to drink tons of water. You will be amazed at how much it will curb your hunger, drop your water weight immediately, fill you up, and give you an overall better feeling.
NOTE: For African-Americans: We have a tendency to have high rates of kidney disease, renal failure and higher levels of creatine in our blood which affects our kidneys. Water is especially vital to consume at high levels along with lowering intakes of sodium.
*For health sake the key is clear urine and floating bowel movements. Yeah, I know I got a bit personal, but it’s true, ask your doctor.
Tip #2 to losing weight: Those Doggone Carbs and Sugars. To me there are only two food groups, carbs and sugars. Take me to a fancy restaurant and all I want is some chicken fingers with barbecue sauce, french fries, garlic bread, a big hunk of cherry cheesecake and a tall glass of lemonade. Now that’s some good eatins y’all! On occasion, there is nothing wrong with my most favorite meal of all time. However, the key to LOSING weight is moderation and eating what is best for your body instead of what your body is craving. Once you train your body and stick to it, your body follows and stops craving what it is not getting.
Every person’s body is different. For many of us, like me, the biggest enemies are carbs and sugars. They can put and keep on pounds faster than a Thanksgiving dinner.
Sugars & carbohydrates – especially fructose actually prevent weight loss. For many years we have falsely believed that eating a lot of fats makes us fat. Actually, our weight problem doesn’t come from just eating too much. It comes from eating too many high-glycemic carbohydrates and the things we love to snack on like cookies, crackers, chips, muffins, cakes, juices, soda, sugar, sugary drinks, starchy breads, and processed foods.
Personally, I found it frustrating to find myself living in the gym and working out so hard but seeing little results weight-wise. I hired a trainer who sat down with me and asked about my eating habits. His mouth dropped open when he heard my diet. At the time I told him that my food consumption for an average day was no breakfast, a bagel with tuna and cheese and kettle chips for lunch with orange juice, and maybe pizza or some garlic toast and chicken tenders with a pint of chocolate Häagen-Dazs® ice cream with caramel sauce for desert.
The problem was that I was not eating enough through the day and my diet basically consisted of carbs & sugars. To cut to the chase, once I changed my eating my weight began to reflect the work I was putting in the gym. For me, cutting out the carbs & sugars made the biggest difference in losing weight in my life.
Although I will allow myself an occasional treat of a candy bar, a few tablespoons of ice cream, or a couple of cheesy biscuits from Red Lobster, I don’t eat them daily nor crave them. Basically, my diet consists of skinless chicken, salmon, turkey, fruits, vegetables, nuts, salads, tons of water and ensure shakes.
Try cutting out or at least cutting down on the carbs & sugars in your foods. I bet you will see amazing results.
Tip #3 to losing weight: Be smart about grocery shopping. Always eat or make sure you are not hungry before you go grocery shopping. Unfortunately, if we are hungry when we are grocery shopping, we have a tendency to buy things (usually carbs & sugars) based on our hunger & cravings instead of what is on our list. Second, make sure you always prepare a list of what you plan to purchase and stick to that list no matter what you see that looks good to your palate. Train your body & wallet to stay on a budget & menu plan.
Tip #4 to losing weight: Green Tea. Yeah baby, it works. I drink as much as possible (decaffeinated of course). A quick way to make a lot cheaply is to get decaffeinated green tea bags in bulk. Get a glass sun tea jar. Fill the jar with HOT water and five green tea bags and set in sun for a couple of hours. If you can’t get to any sun, turn your stove burners on to get your stove top hot then turn it off. Place you glass jar on the stove top and let set with oven top light on. When the tea is done add a packet of lemonade kool-aid and sugar. Drink that stuff as much as possible, especially after workouts. Get hydrated with the water benefits, lemon benefits and the great herbs, healing and weight reduction benefits of green tea. That’s Good stuff.
Tip #5 to losing weight: Eat More. We often grab the foods that are bad for us or don’t eat right out of impulse when we eat when we are starving and our blood sugar is low. However if we are eating regularly throughout the day without getting to the starving and low blood sugar point we can make better decisions with our head. Try eating 5-6 small healthier meals throughout the day. The benefits of eating more smaller meals throughout the day are that your body doesn’t hold onto the fat out of desperation, blood sugar stays level, your appetite is curbed, and it gives more energy.
Tip #6 to losing weight: Exercise Okay, go ahead and say it with me……“Awe not Exercise!” Yeah, hate it or appreciate, you can’t get around it. No matter if it is aging, arthritis, or weight loss the key is and will always be movement. We have been created and wired to move. When we stop moving, our bodies let us know in different ways that they are not happy campers.
I won’t push the point, I just want to encourage you to find some type of exercise that you can do on a regular basis that 1) gets your heart rate up for at least 20 minutes and 2) works the large muscle groups of the body. Find ways based on your personality to move, whatever it is. This is what I do.
I created a hour long CD of music based on the types of movements I wanted to do. The first song allows me to stretch out and slowly prepare my muscles. The next song allows me walk in place and do movements to work my thighs and butt. The next song gets me running my behind off and doing twists, boxing moves, and working my obliques and waistline. I am dancing and jamming all over the place. Then the next song cools me down a little while still doing some upper body movement. Then I do 100 leg lifts on each side for each leg on the floor and do some arm work with weights every other day. That works for me and fits my personality. Sometimes I’ll change it up and just walk to a part of town or neighborhood I have never visited before or go to a gym to work out with the bodybuilders (the best people to work out with if you are serious about losing weight). Whatever it takes to move, get my heart going, and use my large muscles. Does that make sense?
Tip #7 to losing weight: Wonderful product I tried.
I exercise five times a week, stretch daily, eat in a healthy way and kept my weight and body fat at a very good number. However, as you know after age 40 your mind is saying “Hey let’s go out” but your body starts saying, “Huh, isn’t it about time for a nap?” My body was no different, I was still having problems getting those final pounds off and getting the definition I was aiming for with my workouts. I did some heavy research on this product. I talked to my doctor, checked to see if any scams were written about this product, checked the BBB, checked the media and read everything I could get my hands on. Then realizing there was a 100% money back guarantee I decided to try it and started it on my birthday on January 30th at a size 11 at 5’11. It is a month later and still at 5’11, I am back at a size 7-8, feeling great and have the definition I have been trying to get. Actually, in my opinion, I look and feel better than I did during my modeling years between the ages 16-28 years old.
The product is called Proactol and the company is based in the United Kingdom. I have supplied links on my website below to begin your research but please research on your own. While this product has worked amazingly for me after so many other products failing, the first thing I’m asking you to do is to research this product for yourself and come to your own conclusion. Proactol is a ground-breaking, clinically proven development in weight loss treatment created to reduce and bind fat intake by nearly 30 % and suppress appetite (boy did it!). Naturally derived – all natural ingredients are suitable for vegetarians. ECO CERT certified and medically backed by members of the health community, this is exactly what over-weight and people over 40 years old have been waiting for. This by the way, is the product I am endorsing.
Anyway, please do not take my word for it. It has been around and talked about alot for a while mainly everywhere but here in the states. I’m sure that’s why I have not seen it on the shelves. But the media has done many stories on it.
Let me know your thoughts and your progress.
Remember, you can do this. It is never too late to dream and begin again.
