Thank you for joining me on this 2-week Blog Series called, “Facing Your Fears: A Plan For Growth”. This series is only available to subscribers and those who follow my site. Combined with my counseling background and the many areas that I have been writing, speaking and working with clients on, I am giving you the highlights of an in-depth training I do dealing with how fear impacts our growth in combination with incredible information from John’s book. If you would like to read the series again or other similar posts, it will be available at www.charlottehunt.com.
Last time, we talked about the definition of growth and Gaps. Which misconception about growth did you have?
Today, we are going to deal with the question, How do we get from where we are to where we want to be in our lives?
As mentioned in part one, growth happens when it is intentional. We will always have obstacles, struggles, and detours along the way. However, there are some basic steps we can take to make the change to get from where we are to where we want to be. We will deal with the first two questions in part one.
1) Start by asking 4 big Questions:
- Where do you want to go in life?
- What direction do you want to go?
- What’s the farthest you can imagine going?
- How long will it take?
Asking these questions and allowing yourself to ponder the “what if’s” are necessary to start the investment in yourself for growth. Keep in mind, the more you have to work with (issues, background, etc.) the greater your potential and the farther you should try to go. That is the first step.
2) Do it Now
The greatest danger that you face right now is the idea that you will make intentional growth a priority “later”. The word, “Later” is our greatest dream-killer and obstacle that derails our chances for success. How many times has a situation, life change, new opportunity, or great thought come your way but it was put off for later then forgotten?
Remember, all the information and questions will have little impact if we are not intentional in our movement to grow and take action to do things now. Yep, growing is not easy. If it was easy, the world would look completed different.
