ENCOURAGEMENT FOR TODAY: The Importance of The Waiting Room
Have you ever desired a goal or result but found yourself in a period where you have no control in making that result happen and all you can do is wait? You have to wait for a physical or health change. You have to wait for an employment or work situation to change. You have to wait for a prayer to be answered in some way. While you are waiting, you find yourself frustrated and perhaps angry because you are not seeing the result happen in the way or timing you want. I get that.
Today, I want to encourage you to value the waiting as much as the result. I remember wanting to do a particular type of work because I thought the money was good, I had some skill in it, and it seemed to fit my personality. People who knew me well questioned my choice but I did not want to wait nor pray about what direction my life needed to take. This opportunity was in front of me and I needed money fast. To make a long story short, I ended up losing a great deal of money and found the direction was not a good fit for my personality at all. However, the good news was that the decision forced me to have to wait (perhaps longer than it would have in the first place) and listen to know where I needed to be.
The point I’m making is that the “waiting room” is a place where we have a wonderful opportunity to prepare, listen, and take in what is needed before grabbing hold of the result. Often, the result will not come until our preparation is complete in the waiting room. Like Joseph in the bible, his time in prison was not a punishment, but a place for him to hone his skills and prepare for his position of greatness for the future.Â
Be Encouraged. Â
Take care,
Charlotte
