Last Sunday, I was refreshed and greatly impacted by the words of my pastor. Although he stated the message was for him, the message spoke to me as though God personally told him all my business and had directed the message to me alone.
My pastor spoke of the fact that like Mary’s virgin birth of Jesus Christ, God similarly births miracles inside us through the holy spirit. Obviously, he was not talking about Christ being born again. He was referring to dreams, visions, projects, etc. that God impregnates in us that we are not able to do in our own ability and will always seem impractical, impossible, unknown and incredibly difficult. He likened the journey of Mary and what God told her in Luke to what he tells us. God always reminds us that He will never leave us and He will do the work of completing whatever he has told us.
I would like to encourage you with the words, “Although you are discouraged, don’t give up”.
For those who read my second book, “Damaged Goods: Learning to Dream Again”, you are aware of that birthing God placed within me many years ago. I have traveled through incredible success and fame and through experiences of pain, loss, difficulty, discouragement, directionless, frustration, fear and struggle to the point of wanting to shut down and even end my life at times as my last trimester closes. However, in the process, He has taught me to be still and hear his ever-present voice.
Perhaps you need to be reminded that:
1) He, alone, is at work. Regardless of our efforts of planning, getting things done, trying to control, or being a doer, We CANNOT make his plans or purpose happen. He gave us the dream to carry only, not create or deliver on our own.
2) Regardless of our insecurities, doubts and lack of understanding, this is all about him. Every time, we try to grab the steering wheel or get frustrated because things are not happening as we believe they should go, we make it about us and our agenda as though we were the one who originated the gift.
3) Faith isn’t just believing in God. It’s believing that even in the midst of our insanity, he is sane.
I said all that to say, perhaps God has birthed in you a dream, goal or vision that is unknown, difficult, and seems impossible to your eyes. Lord knows, you have or will experience times that cause you to wonder if you are losing your mind. Be encouraged. You are not crazy, you are not out his will because things seem so difficult and trying. Know your efforts to try harder are not part of his desire. He will never leave you or ask you to do what is only on him to do. He desires to be the Hero and do only what you cannot do.
Hang in there. The closer you are to labor, the rougher it will be. The enemy does not want God’s potential through you to happen. The war is not against flesh but against the spirit.
If this was simple, He would not have given it to you to carry. The work is already completed. Continue to hold on and walk out the glorious journey.
You can do this! Charlotte
