Have you ever just had one of those days when you are just tired of being tired of negative situations and discouragement around you? Well, today is one of those days.
As we begin a new year, let’s be tired of discouragement spreading from the lips of parents to their children through cussing, angry words, and curses regarding their future and who they will be. Those children grow up believing those drowning words as truth given from the ones who were supposed to love them best.
Let’s be tired of discouragement and insults being applauded, paraded, and praised in our culture and celebrated through the lives of less-talented reality players and outrageous antics by music performers and celebrities. The ones that are taking in those words of negativity are learning that discouragement pays while doing the right thing and being honest are toys for fools. Our young people who bully are learning their lessons well from us.
Let’s be tired of the radio and television hosts who make a living on the very backs of those they insult and demean. When did their lives become more important than ours? Does their money make them wiser? Does their fame mean they are more talented or more important than anyone else? Certainly time has shown that their lives are just as jacked-up as everyone else.
Let’s be tired of the discouragement and fear and doubt and worry that pervade our lives and has seemingly become more powerful than our will, courage, intelligence, and fortitude.
Let’s be tired of hearing stories and news coverage about discouraged people killing each other out of fear of the other leaving, children committing suicide because of discouragement and bullying, and yet another life that has given up on hope.
Let’s be tired of the excuses and the reasons why we can’t do something to move toward greatness in a society that has everything when I know for a fact of ancestors and those who came before us who did greater and more life-changing things with so much less. Yes, the slaves, Jews, Naive Americans, Asian Americans and so many more cultures and peoples that were persecuted, disrespected and had to overcome great obstacles were more discouraged than we could ever imagine……but interestingly they told discouragement where to get off as well and kept moving forward in courage to greatness and making a difference.
Today, let’s discouragement where to get off!
Discouragement said that it was powerful and had a great plan. It said that as long as it could keep people believing they are worthless, believing that what they do or did is who they are and will be, and continue to doubt themselves…it wins and laughs. It said that as long as it could keep people remembering the past, holding people hostage about harm committed, and trapped in their anger and emotions….it is more powerful and will always be better than you. It said that as long as it can keep people discouraged through their situations, blaming others, doing nothing, pulling others down…it can look at you with disdain because you gave up so easy to something that wasn’t even real.
Let’s tell discouragement that it was only an instrument of it’s foolish master and had no power outside of what we allowed. Let’s tell discouragement that like fear, we personally gave it more time and more of our life than it was worth. Let’s tell discouragement that it was a one trick pony with only one game and that was to try to cut off our potential like it tries with everyone. Let’s tell discouragement that while it felt good for a while to hold onto as a crutch, it is no longer invited in our house, in our life, with those who encourage and push our life, and as quiet as it was kept..as soon as others caught onto its game, it would be kicked out of our lives as well.
Today, let’s tell discouragement where to go!
