ENCOURAGEMENT FOR TODAY- Don’t Believe the Images of Perfection that Others Show
Have you seen celebrities post chiseled pictures of themselves? Have people offered to tell you how much money they are making or how perfect their lives or relationships are on social media? Yeah, I have as well. Â
You know as a certified coach and counselor for over 27 years I have seen, studied, and understand one thing about human nature. People who are secure about areas in their lives don’t feel the need to prove them to others. Let me offer an example.
My mother, who I grew to love and like before she passed away, constantly felt the need to prove her strength and ability to not allow anyone to get the best of her by her actions, anger, power, etc. Unfortunately, instead of showing her strength, she actually showed her weakness. Â
The same is for those who spend time posting, blogging, or constantly showing pictures of themselves. I’m not referring to an occasional post here and there to celebrate a weight loss or new look. Think about it, if I am secure in how I look, I don’t need your approval, likes, or affirmation to keep me going. However, if I do (like many of the celebrities who keep posting pictures of their bodies) you will constantly see pictures and then buy into comparing yourself to them which is what the marketing companies want you to do. Â
Remember: Whatever, we are insecure about, there is a chance that we will constantly post about that thing in an effort to get other’s approval, likes, or affirmation. What are you seeking other’s approval for?
You can do this!Â
