She wrote her first book at (9 years old), “The case of the Missing Birthday Cake.” Her second book, “Reflections of My Thoughts” uses her love of poetry to express her life challenges and victories and God’s messages of love and encouragement to her. She is currently crafting her third, yet untitled, work to be released in the fall of 2014.

Shaneen’s motto is to dream, to write, to speak, to influence
Shaneen award-winning poem, “Over the Horizon” is featured in author Charlotte Hunt’s seventh novel, “Learning To Dream Again: Grasping Our Dreams In The Face Of Obstacles”
Over the horizon is a new day
Hold on
Live long enough to see it
There’s a promise and a hope around the next bend
If you persevere through
Believe it!
There’s a destiny that God has designed just for you
If you would only breathe another breath
There is a plan and a future for your life
Put God’s faithfulness to the test
Then, dream an audacious dream of a life many years away
Now, hold on another second, another minute
Then exhale, you’ve reached that day
Over the horizon there is a new day
This, I can truly promise you
Although, now the pain seems never ending
And like you’ll never be able to see it through
The dark room is closing in around you, and the path may
seem rough
But, don’t you dare quit now, there is a light shining through
If you would just look inward and look up
Feel the pain is all your own
Man can’t understand, forgive, or even look you in the eye
But, don’t you dare give in, God has not left you alone
Look upward and in victory death defy
Seems you’ve failed at every turn and every chance that
you’ve been given
And, now you feel all alone, in solitary
Your life an emotional or physical prison
And, it’s as if the sentence will last for an eternity
But, God in his love says “not so”
I have Grace, and my Mercy will set you free
Just hold on … look to me… don’t let go
Hold on
Take it by each instance
Because the hour is just too long
Don’t you dare give up
Look to God for your strength
When you are weakest he’ll be strong
Over the horizon is a new day
Hold on
Live long enough to see it
There is a promise and a hope in the next second
If you just keep breathing long enough to receive it
