The fall, particularly around Halloween is absolutely the most favorite time of the year for me, as Halloween is my birthday.
When I was a little girl my mom used to have fabulous birthday parties for me. The neighbor kids would come over and most or all of my classmates would be there. We would dress up in our little costumes and bob for apples, eat pumpkin pie and play hopscotch and play sack races. Our house was small but it could pack in at least twenty or thirty kids. Me and my friends would be running across the yard playing tag and having the time of our lives.
Then after all the hoopla was over it would be November and everyone was looking toward Thanksgiving and Christmas. It seems like every year people begin to put up Christmas lights just after my birthday or around Thanksgiving. I know the air is a little chillier and the days are shorter but I have so many many memories of the fall and the winter. Many people that I shared these memories with are gone and I miss them but I will always hold those times in my heart. Some have moved away or some are with the Lord but I will cherish their love and the laughter we shared.
My parents are now gone and sometimes I feel myself getting misty-eyed over my childhood and all those fun times but there are so many more ahead of me.
Most of all I look back and see what God has done in my life and I am proud to be a child of God.
